The VMS acts as a point of task aggregation for all the sensors and IP cameras that are located at an established site. With video surveillance moving beyond security, the VMS has taken on new roles — one of which is being able to help increase ROI and total cost of ownership (TCO) for organisations investing in such a solution. Video captured from IP cameras is no longer for pure video streams; video analytics, AI, and other automated data mining solutions built on top of the VMS platform has become more widely adopted, leading to continued data volume growth as storage capacity continues to expand.

This brief outlines the building blocks of storage infrastructure for Genetec VMS with the Seagate Exos X 5U84. It attempts to bring an architectural reference to Seagate AI customers by conducting a Genetec VMS Proof of Concept (POC) and by demonstrating Genetec VMS implementation over Seagate composable storage in an IP SAN environment.
