Architecting Hybrid IT and Edge in a Distributed, Digital World
A Pathfinder paper navigates decision-makers through the issues surrounding a specific technology or business case, explores the business value of adoption, and recommends the range of considerations and concrete next steps in the decision-making process.
Digital transformation is upon us. The pandemic accelerated the shift to digital as companies looked to increase their agility and deliver services in new ways. As a result, the enterprise network needs to evolve, adapting to the requirements of a hybrid workforce and the need for a simplified, faster way to consume services.
Many enterprises are still in flux. Of the organizations that either experienced or planned to respond to workforce disruption since the beginning of 2020, 75% cited increased reliance on remote work as a fundamental new difference, according to 451 Research’s Voice of the Enterprise, Digital Pulse, Business Reinvention and Transformation 2021. Among those that have seen a change in IT operations, 57% said they expect to increase their reliance on cloud-based technologies from here on out, and 48% expect increased automation of IT infrastructure operations (see Figure 1). The results suggest a desire to consume infrastructure and IT in as-a-service form, delivered with cloud-like consumption models. Enterprises are learning that they cannot do everything themselves.
